Vince Gill

Vince Gill’s “Threaten Me With Heaven” Receives Grammy Nomination for Best Country Song

Vince Gill’s “Threaten Me With Heaven” has received a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Country Song.

This is the 41st career Grammy nomination for Gill, who has won 20 Grammys.

He co-wrote “Threaten Me With Heaven” with his wife, Amy Grant, Dillon O’Brian and Will Owsley. Gill is appreciative of the nomination, which was announced on Thursday night, especially because it serves as a lasting tribute to Owsley, who took his own life since the song was recorded for Gill’s new album, Guitar Slinger.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled for my late friend Will,” Gill says. “This would have meant the world to him.”

Gill says the song has a profound impact on him because of Owsley’s death. “In my lifetime, ‘Go Rest High On That Mountain” has been the song that helped a lot of people through their grief,” he says. “I think this one will in turn hopefully do the same thing. It’s a powerful, powerful song.”

Gill and Grant will begin their popular Christmas tour, The Twelve Days of Christmas – Amy Grant & Vince Gill, on Dec. 7 in Baltimore, MD.

Lorrie, among others, will entertain an intimate crowd of invitation-only guests at the resplendent John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall in Washington, DC. The Christmas Concert For The Troops (presented by D.C. residents Suzy and Bob Pence along with the USO of Metropolitan Washington) is scheduled to take place the evening of Tuesday, December 6, 2011. The whimsical gala is a private holiday celebration held purely in gratitude and recognition of the men and women who serve on behalf of our country.

As part of the entertainment fare, Lorrie will dedicate three song selections: “My Favorite Things” will set the Yuletide tone and as her musical gift to attendees, and she will perform “America The Beautiful” with Tony Award winner John Lloyd Young (current cast member of “The Jersey Boys”). Morgan will also sing “In My Room” alongside legendary recording artists The Beach Boys.

All performances will be backed by the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by American composer Marvin Hamlisch. Miss America 2011, Teresa Scanlan, and actor John Stamos will host Christmas Concert For The Troops.

Chris Cagle

CHRIS CAGLE MIXES WORK AND PLAY WITH “GOT MY COUNTRY ON,” THE FIRST SINGLE FROM HIS FIFTH STUDIO ALBUM

Bigger Picture Group hit-maker Chris Cagle is celebrating his Music Row homecoming with “Got My Country On,” the first single from his highly anticipated fifth in-studio album, due out in early 2012. Rocketing to No. 36 on the Billboard Country Charts only 11 weeks after its debut, this high-energy take on a classic country theme has gained more than 3,152,900 impressions to date, reached an audience of 4.2 million and maintains a consistent bullet on the charts. Using Chris’s way of life – a balance of working hard and playing hard – as a launching pad, “Got My Country On” explores two sides of Cagle – the rocker and the rancher. Written by Kelly Archer, Justin Weaver and Danny Myrick (songsmiths for country greats like Jason Aldean, Craig Morgan and Jo Dee Messina), and produced, in conjunction with Cagle, by ACM and CMA award winner Keith Stegall, the song is a perfect combination of the talents of these music industry heavy-hitters, and showcases Cagle’s musical range.

The song, now available to country stations nationwide, is a taste of what’s to come. “The first moment I heard it, I thought – this resonates,” Chris says. “And the more I got into it, the more I realized I could not come back to country music and to radio and to my fans with a better representation of who I am as an individual.” Cagle is hard at work in Nashville recording his forthcoming full-length album.

This single resoundingly reminds old fans of what they have missed during Cagle’s absence from the music scene and is also fast attracting new fans with the classic Cagle rock-infused country sound. The “Got My Country On” music video, currently airing on CMT, GAC, CMT PURE and CMT.com received over 10,400 online views in its first week. Directed by Marcel and filmed on location at the Cagle family “Big Horse Ranch” in Marietta, Okla., and at a raucous tour stop at Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, the video illustrates to viewers how Cagle gets his country on: by performing his loud, self proclaimed “redneck rock ‘n roll” and by getting some serious work done maintaining his impressive Oklahoma homestead.

Cagle’s professional credits include two gold albums, two No. 1 albums and 12 charted songs. From 2000-2008, Cagle released an impressive string of hits that resulted in a scorching hot career. After taking a break to focus on the thrills that family and hard work bring him, Chris is back in action.

About Chris Cagle:
Born in DeRidder, La., and raised “all over,” Chris Cagle was signed to Virgin Records by Scott Hendricks in 2000. Chris quickly earned critical and commercial success and attracted a legion of fans that included industry heavyweights and country fans alike. His first number one smash, “I Breathe In, I Breathe Out,” remains a fan favorite. From 2000-2008, he released an almost nonstop catalog of chart-topping songs, but in 2008, Chris bowed out and retreated to Marietta, Oklahoma, a place where he could reconnect with his roots and take a break from the industry. He spent the next couple of years staking his claim on home life and embracing a lifelong dream: building his family’s home, “Big Horse Ranch,” with his own two hands, nail by nail.

Cagle’s musical character and burning ambition never wavered and 2012′s album is, in more ways than one, a new lease on life. The new record is his homecoming – a rekindling of his creative flame and a roaring reminder of his rock-infused country roots. Chris’s music has been firing people up for over a decade, and this time around, Chris is chomping at the bit for an energetic reintroduction to the country music community that’s been a long time coming.
