Fans Urged to Bring New, Outgrown and Gently Used Baseball Equipment for Donation to Players & Leagues in Need
WHAT: MEDIA AND A GUEST ARE INVITED TO ATTEND & COVER the frenetic and funny game of softball played by dozens of musicians, professional athletes and members of the media and an exciting concert on two stages in centerfield at Austin roots-rock band Reckless Kelly’s 3rd Celebrity Softball Jam.
This year, fans are being encouraged to bring to the event new, outgrown and gently used baseball gloves, bats, catcher’s gear and other baseball-related equipment and join the Reckless Recycling Program — an extension of the band’s continuing efforts on behalf of Central Texas youth players and leagues in need that have included donation of more than $65,000 from its first two Celebrity Softball Jams.

Many of the musicians will participate in the game, too, along with sports figures such as former UT Longhorn and Big League pitcher Greg Swindell, former Major Leaguers Brooks Kieschnick and Kirk Dressendorfer, boxer Jesse James Leija, and former Cleveland Browns/Miami Dolphins/UT cornerback Stephen Braggs.
WHY: Members of Reckless Kelly are passionate about music and baseball, and by combining those two loves they continue to help young players by raising funds for youth baseball groups.
